Aaahh - week 3

Greetings from Somerset! After the trials of week 2 where infection and my new-record 8 days of constipation brought me way down, I'm feeling great.

We took a chance on me being well and booked a family-sized house in the Porlock in the West Country. Weather is patchy (see Wimbledon) but it's great for Daniela and I to be together with Laura, Katie, Luke and Frank before they do their different things for the summer.

Now on my fourth day free of pain, medication and medics. No complaints about the medics you understand; utterly expert, unbelievable work-rate and genuine (you can't fake it) care. But it is nice to be free of them and the meds and the observations and blood tests and questions.

My hair is starting to come out in clumps (they said that would be week 4!), but I look at it this way: anyone who knows me would agree most days were Bad Hair Days. Baldness may be my thing! Photos in due course.

Many, many thanks for all your comments and continued good wishes. I deeply appreciate them all. It's a beautiful day here - and I trust for you.

Carpe!

Paul

It is good to hear you are doing better!!!!. And that you are all going on holidays, well deserved by the way....

I remember every detail of our holidays last year, I hope this year you enjoy them as much as as I did last year.

Hi Paul

Glad to hear you're doing much better. As you say you are good at talking, so maybe the hospital just want you to recover before yuostart doing seminars on different cells to them! lame joke i know.

Anyway, thought i'll let you know that hthe blog is fantastic and do wish you happy holidaying!!

I thought i'd quote a saying which i think rings true of you!

I am very happy
Because I have conquered myself
And not the world.

I am very happy
Because I have loved the world
And not myself.

Hi Uncle Paul!
Hope you've managed to have a big poo by now :-)
Glad you felt well enough to go away en famile. Hope you're all having fun.
I've just spent 10 days travelling around the Croatian coast with 3 girlfriends. Went to Split, Hvar, Korcula and Dubrovnik. All totally beautiful. The coast line is stunning and the water is crystal clear. I thouroughly recommend to Croatia to everyone.
Anyway, now I've got 3 weeks to find somewhere to live. Aghhhhh!
Big hugs,
Trudie xxx

Hi Paul,
Didn`t even know what a blog was until now! I was stunned when Richard told me your news but having read your blog today for the first time I feel heartened and optimistic.I wanted you to know that I pray for you and your family every day at Mass ( there`s a Mass said daily by our chaplain before school starts)and I`m praying for a miracle (not something I normally do!).It`s great to see you have so many supportive friends all over the world. God is good, the chaplain assures me - hang on in there.
love Danuta and family

Hi Paul,

Delighted to hear that you have had a lovely break.

Swimming went fine on Saturday - lots of parents in the water and poolside - so please don't worry about us!

Really looking forward to admiring the new hairstyle(?).

Love to all the family and good luck with your next treatment.

Very best wishes
from John, Wendy and Martin.

Paul, I meant to post this comment on Saturday 07/07/07 (one of the few days when our american friends will agree that we are talking about the same day!) - three lucky numbers together on the day that the Tour de France started here in London. I recall you lending me a book a few years ago that you had already read - Lance Armstrong's "It's Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life". It's about how he overcame cancer and chemo, he went on to win 7 Tours de France! May you continue to be a Tour de Force in these weeks to come.
Maggy and I were among the million or so yesterday in London to see the Prologue and met up with quite a few cycling club friends from 'the Old Members Association' - they all send their best wishes.

So pleased the whole family got away this week for a holiday.
Good luck and keep smiling!
Tony

Hi Paul
So glad to hear you got away with the family for a break. Hope you had a good time. Good luck with your next round of treatment. We are all rooting for you here (no pun intended for the new hairstyle - I need to consult with Edward for some better jokes!) Lots of love, thoughts, and prayers.

Hi Paul

Seen your postcard, not sure about you're choice of accomodation!

Was thinking that maybe we could get you a cap so that you don't get sun burnt!!

Glad to hear you managed to get away and spend some quality time with the family.

Hope to see you sometime.

Love Teresa, Mario & Andre xx

Hi Chemo Kid
I prefer the mullet style myself as you know and with you bald I reckon we would look pretty good doing our next joint presentation.
Keep up the good look
Speak to you soon

Hey Paul,

I too have a bad hair day every single day! Good to hear I'm not the only one.

All at Coadys in Melbourne send their best to you and yours.

Just hurry up and get better soon will you. I can't just have John Chisholm lecturing me alone. Surely you wouldn't do that to me !!!! Ha Ha

All my love.Bless You.
